Bore snakes

Greetings All

Are there any down sides to cleaning pistols or shotguns with a bore snake cleaning device? I'm fairly new to the shooting world and would appreciate any legit advice on this subject.

for a quick clean of just the bore and chamber they are fine. They aren't perfect but they work okay.

I clean my guns the old the old way. I will take a bore snake to the field in case I need a quick clean up.

I clean my bores with boresnakes every time I shoot, a little LCP sprayed on it and it does the job in two to three swipes, of course I deep clean once a year too, but boresnakes are one of my favorite inventions ever, especially if you shoot double barrels!

I meant CLP, not LCP

I like them for quick big particle removal, but I'll never go back to the pre-Otis days.
