i had to replace my hot water tank back in November. What I didn’t realize was when I installed it into the space I hit my air conditioner water pipe and broke the end off. So now when the air comes on water just goes everywhere. I didn’t realize it was broke until I saw water on the floor in my garage. It did have an elbow that extended to a drain pipe. Now it can’t because it’s broken off. It even cause the drywall next to the pipe to become brittle so I had to remove it as you can see in the picture. The pipe goes straight up into my attic and then there is another elbow. How can I remove this broken part or the whole pipe and install a new one? Aren’t they glued together? Any help would be much appreciated.

You can cut the sheetrock up another 3" and you will see enough of the pipe where you can cut off above that elbow and install a new elbow.
And take it wherever you need to go.

You can cut it off with a hacksaw blade.. just hold the blade in your hand.. but wrap the blade with a wrag where you hold it.. that is good for tight spaces.
That is if you have no other tools.
You could even cut it with a serrated knife if ya had to.

As said, cut the sheetrock another 3-4 inches until you can see the pipe above the nipple. Cut there, and use push-fit style fittings ("Shark Bite" is one brand name) and Pex tubing to make up the difference in length.

a rope saw works pretty good to cut pvc in tight spaces if you can hold the pipe steady. Believe it not, nylon string will cut through PVC pretty quickly too.

edit... Gunbuffer beat me to it.

Where are you located? I have glue and probably the fitting and lots of experience fixing that kind of thing. I could give you a hand if you’re in the city. If not, I’m sure you can get it done. You could even use a rubber hose and clamp to get it to the drain.
