If the cars were for sale or if they were given to you, do you have the $25,000 to $50,000 it would take to restore one? Or the time. If you bought one of the cars, how long would it sit in your yard? I also hate to see those cars just sit there, but until I have the time and money to do the restoration I'll not critisize. Better sitting in their yard than mine.

Take a drive through the dry western states. Lots of old cars sitting out there. I once saw 5 Edsels in one junk car lot in New Mexico. I have a 74 Cadillac Deville. Anyone want to buy it? :Heya:

Here's a story.
Years ago my son told me of a Mustang on a trailer he'd seen on his way home from school with a for sale sign on it. So, I went to look, but, on this car things just were'nt looking right, brackets in stange places, unusual shock mounts, huge sway bars, etc. After looking for a while and really questioning things in my mind, i went and got my decoding book...............it was originally a 70 Boss 302. The kid had no idea what he had................I bought it for $250.......a rolling chassis.........Now, keep in mind, this old car had been abused.......it was painted maroon with gold metalflake, and a gold "lace job" (for those of you old enough to remember THAT) eeeekkkkk! When I started taking that off........sure enough, the original white and black was underneath..........

As things turn out, I already had a Mach 1, lost my job, had to move to Tulsa, and then a divorce so, I did'nt get to restore it. I gave it to my son who sold it for a considerable profit.........the ONLY car I've ever owned and made money on.............LOL He sold it to a guy from Calif. with the condition that it would be restored, not parted out.

Now, the kicker, when I registered it with the Boss 302 Registry.........according to records, (most Boss records were destroyed in a fire yrs. earlier) that it was considerably higher in the serial number than any other Boss in the registry.............I was told by them that it was quite possible that that was THE LAST Boss 302 ever built...........(sigh)

It's been a while, but I've gone over that website a few times. It's really kind of sickening. The site came up a few years ago on another website I frequent (auto-related), and we all started posting pics of the ones we've seen and caught on film. You'd be surprised at all of the rotting hulks that are "not for sale". I know where two '57 T-Birds are right now, that are pretty much past the point of no return.

unfortunately I have a barn find right now that ended up in the barn by my own hands. Like yrralguthrie said, I don't have the money for the restoration at the moment, but I really do plan on working on it....someday. Actually I do from time to time, but every time I do, I find something else wrong with it...maybe when the kids are out of the house!

Here is one for you guys. Nash Ambassador Custom. This is sitting in our barn in Wyoming. It has been in my family for many years but was then given to my cousin as a wedding present. Should hopefully be restored eventually.

It is sacrilegious what is being done to this shelby.

Agreed!

That is almost enough to drive me to GTA. If it was in my neighborhood I'd have to buy a cover for it just so I didn't have to look at it. That really is nuts.

There is a late 60's Stang not far from my place, I don't have the means to repair it so I've never asked about it but it definitely needs some love. I know for a fact that it hasn't been touched in over 5 years. I think the fella that it belongs to is pretty old, he doesn't get around much because I've only seen him a time or two - at least it's under a car port.
