I’m in the same boat, 17 year old daughter and my son turns 16 in November. It’s really hard to even find a halfway decent vehicle for them.

Might be slightly higher but look at 15-20 year old Lexus cars and SUVs. Usually higher mileage but still in excellent mechanical condition and tend to be priced low. Best bang for your buck out there IMO.

To second this, I was poking around for a cheaper daily drivers about 6 months ago. I ran across what I thought to be some fair priced Camrys, the poor mans lexus.

I’m on the search too, and it’s definitely a sellers market. My daughter will be 16 in August, and she’s getting annoyed I can’t find her something (that she likes). She seems to think me providing her a car is like a human right.

My daughter tried to pull that BS. She got her grandmas Chevy Corsica with the faded silver peeling paint job. Then it sat in the driveway until she saved up $500 to pay for her share of insurance. I drove her to and from her job at Sonic until she reached that goal. She drove that thing until she graduated from high school without complaint. Having wheels should require skin in the game.

I must have the opposite luck then, I can’t find a decent priced Toyota but an older Lexus they seem to just about give away. With today’s market I doubt that there’s much of anything in any category though.

I did a quick search for Toyotas in the Corolla and Echo area in Dallas and OKC and for Pontiac Vibes or Toyota Matrix.
I just love that 1.8 4 cylinder.
Echo is a bit smaller.
Very little turned up.
