Do you think it's possible a lot of people who sold land still have no idea who they actually sold it to? I'm pretty sure a lot of them probably didn't have Chesapeake named in the contract, I'm just guessing though.

If oil & gas leases are anything like the mortgage business, I'd guess a lot of them get sold to small companies, and are then bundled and sold to the large operations?

I do have a Chesapeake lease, but not sure if I sold it to them, or they acquired from another energy company. At least I'm pretty sure, it may have been sold again, have to check records.
