This SOE micro rig has pretty much lived in the closet it’s whole life. Has the hydration pouch on the back but I’ve used it a couple times without it too. Double mag pouch holds 4 ar or ak mags easily and a med kit. Also has a velcro closure and lined map pocket too, a guy could run a velcro holster in there I suppose
You want MOLLE or something modular/modern with velcro?
I like TT...have used their stuff for over 20 yrs.

You can get Chicom AK chest harnesses for way cheap and they are pretty small, comfy, and hold 6-8 AR mags depending on the rig.
I too am going to suggest Tactical Tailor and be another advocate of the MAV. I really miss living within driving distance with access to their seconds bin.I too suggest Tactical Tailor, but I am unsure about BFG. My last sling from them wasn't super impressive compared to lower priced competitors.
I Want to try out Haley Strategic stuff, but I haven't yet. Worth a look, but pricey. The modularity of the mag pouches are nice.

I have this, but in multicam. Its pretty nice, I like it. I really want the blue-jean looking one for some real street cred, I honestly love the look. Its always out of stock though.

If you wanna go chinese cheap, look at Krydex. Buy it off aliexpress, or from their online store, its considerably cheaper than amazon. But anything I have gotten from them is "good enough" especially considering what I have paid. Their mag pouches are esstac knockoffs too.

LegitKit on ebay has used stuff sometimes as well. | eBay
On Krydex I got some of their stuff for my old team, dump pouches and shear holders. Around 30% of it failed within a few months.
