You heard wrong , no where in the bible does it say that , the bible says we should not focus on observing rites and rituals. Paul said himself in Acts that he belonged to one of the strictest of "our religion" Christianity and Judaism are referred to as a religion numerous times in the Bible.
As for going to Church you miss the point as to why people are supposed to go , The bible says it is to have fellowship with other followers of Christ .
So circling back and considering the literal definition of the word atheistic ...

Anyone else notice if you read only the capitalized words in Old Johns messages it actually tells the story of his life, a manifesto of sorts, a truly deep and touching story.
Nothing wrong with religion that removing humanity wouldn’t fix. We, humanity, do a good job of corrupting anything and everything.
I'm an avid, no, make that "serious, amateur photographer." As a photographer, I see evidence of God every day as it is in all of His creation.
So, without God, how did the universe come about? And, how about all the complexity of everything from the simple cell to the wonder of the human body and all the interactions of the organs in that body? Are you going to say that we came about by accident?
It amuses me to watch this going on. Christians don’t believe in any of be other hundreds of Gods out there because theirs is the best. The idiot who openly chose one race over all others then had to sacrifice his son to backtrack. It’s almost as bad as Zeus turning into a goose and banging a queen.
Jesus told the crowd that he who is without sin should cast the first stone. and Jesus told the woman to go and sin no more. note that Jesus didn't tell her to go home and continue in her sin??? Jesus also condemned the perversion of Gods law and called it "mans law". he called them whitewashed tombs.
