Well got mine last night. Colt frame and Remington Rand slide. I did opt for service grade and now I kinda wish I had gone for rack grade. Pretty obvious it's been refinished.

What little research I’ve done has it sometime in ‘44.
There are a couple more very faint/partial markings I can’t identify on the frame right side, below slide and behind grip. (see pic). One of them is definitely a stamp, the other I’m not so sure.View attachment 313093
I believe what is inside the red square is what is left of a Ordnance "crossed cannon" inspection cartouche. Opinions? Milsurp or 1911 experts thoughts?

I still don't know what that is inside the blue circle. Looks to be a partial 3 inside a square, but I can't really tell, and I'm not finding any info on it anywhere. Anyone have any opinions?

Am I seeing things that aren’t there?

I believe the red circle is the crossed cannons. You can see it on mine but not quite as good as yours

From what I can find so far it's 1944. Still trying to figure out the barrel markings. Have not had time to strip it down yet.

The barrel markings are a part number, and a pretty close year of mfg. So that's a 7791193 barrel, and it was probably made in 91 or 92. I haven't been able to find a definitive answer on that myself yet as to the year the barrels were made.
