Are those old Krags not one of the coolest rifles ever?
They are indeed. One of my favorites.
I always get second looks from people on the rifle range when I am shooting with one. I get to give a little history lesson to them.

Is it not crazy that the CMP has military rifles that are 125 years old. What else do you think is hidden in that warehouse?
I'd like to see what's hidden in the employee's garages.

My Uncle used a 30/40 Krag-Jorgensen as his mule deer gun in Colorado when deer were almost non-existent in Oklahoma in the late 50’s.
I never had the chance to shoot it as he entered a 10 year period when his health declined to the point he passed when I was getting old enough to shoot. He told me the stories when I was taking care of him in his final months.

Quite a few guys use them for elk in Montana, and I never saw one that wasn't sporterized. I've had two, and I still have one. A few years ago a guy gave me a coffee can full of Krag ammo, all reloads, I went out out and shot 3 rounds, that stuff was hotter than hell, I took it home and pulled the bullets, and dumped the powder. I'm planning on casting some bullets, and coming up with a light load.
looks like they only have expert garands, 1903’s, 1917’s, 1911’s. Krags start in July. Wonder what the condition will be. Mail order is a gamble
