Stanley was great. Just be advised the newer (last few years) Stanleys are made in China and are not as efficient as the older ones. (Plus, I always wonder what made in china is made of.) When I wanted another Stanley recently I went to Ebay and found a new, old vintage one made in USA.

Don't forget that the key to keeping coffee hot in a thermos is to pre-heat the bottle. Filling it with boiling water is best, but if you're short on time just filling it with the hottest water out of your tap will help tremendously.

On hunting trips I'll often fill my thermos with hot water at home then dump it out at QT or wherever and fill back up with coffee.

+1 on the green steel Stanley Thermos. $20 at Walmart in the sporting goods dept.. I've had mine for 20+ yrs. Keeps coffee hot all day. I'll make a pot in the morning, and then put it in my Stanley Thermos so the coffee doesn't scorch / burn from sitting on the hot plate all day.

I'll pick up a Stanley next time I get the chance to get out and find one.

Hey VeggieMeat,

Can't help you on the thermos, I too am a coffee aficionado.

If you like strong coffe go to Starbucks and get a bag of Komodo or Sumatra. Have them grind it on #4 setting, its baby powder.
When this stuff mixes with hot water from the coffee machine, its black , 10w30, rocket fuel.
Never had them grind it regular, the finer the grind...the more surface area gets brewed..mmmm,mmmm!!!

I don't stop in and have a few cups in their stores that often, I brew it at home.

**This stuff to me,must be what a drug addict feels about crack cocaine....I'm hooked and won't accept any substitutes.

Cohiba...4/6 cups every morning...breakfast of champions

I hate you now. Got the Sumatra. Made the Black & Decker coffee maker look faded. And dadgum does it taste good.

I have a feeling this is going to become my daily drinker. Which is bad, because my liquor of choice is already single malt Scotch, my preferred cigars tend to be $9+ a stick, and now my coffee budget is going to have to double.

Probably late into the thread here, but I've beat the crap out of the Nissan thermoses for years in the Army, and still love them for road trips and sitting in the tree stand.
+1 on pouring boiling water in them first as you brew your coffee.
Whatever you choose, now it's time for a Bunn pot. Not really any better at brewing, but faster.
