Sadly I'm a realist and have no illusions that this indictment is intended to hold ex-deputy Coward accountable. It's obviously and attempt to deflect from the culpability of ex-sheriff Israel, MS-DHS principal Thompson and the Broward County School board.

I'd need a little more specificity to accurately respond, but in general context ex-sheriff Israel was responsible for changing active shooter response policy form "shall engage" to "may engage", which goes against every bit of lessons learned and training since Columbine. Further, he oversaw the agency that was utterly ineffective in addressing the threat that Cruz personally presented, despite being call to his home a total of 39 times. Additionally, he, the principle and school board were also in lock step on implementing the PROMISE Program, which prevents effective response to potential school threats (in my opinion as a security professional).

GTG, I was going to mention that yesterday, but I just didn't have the energy. Legally it's a crap shoot IMO.

But I honestly don't know how the guy can sleep at night and Israel is too stupid and partisan to even realize his role in the mess.

Israel is a long standing, virulently anti-gun Democrat. "Shady stuff" doesn't even begin to cover it.

It seems that some of the school boards emasculate the security officer on duty even if they are LEO's. Some are even "disarmed to protect the chilren".

I do not know if any of these circumstances played a role in this but I know what I would have done and it wasn't to go hide.
