CZ 455 w/Vortex Crossfire at the Range

No truer words have been spoken. It's not the worst problem to have, but CZs DO tend to reproduce in my safe. I keep telling Mrs. Zap it's nature, and who are we to try and control nature??

School me please. Why no HV ammo at 100 yds ?

High Velocity 22lr rounds are affected by turbulence when bullets slow through the sound barrier from super to subsonic normally around 75 yard area so it starts out from 1200-1400fps then when it gets around 1100fps drops from supersonic. You can see good shooting HV 22lr at 25 and 50 that go to crap at 100yd. There are a few Match ammos above 1100fps but most are below for a reason.

So CCI SV is a pretty good overall target round especially for the price. @Cowcatcher even has some SD numbers on it somewhere if I recall right. Its pretty impressive for $25 a brick on sale. So you can easily improve those groups some match ammo. But price will go way up. I know a few guys that have CZ 22s for match guns. Eley Match in the black box is probably the most popular round guys use that I know. Another buddy has great luck with RWS Special match in his CZ and another uses Fiocchi 320 super match in his CZ. The main thing if you start shooting at 100 yards make sure you not using HV ammo.

Excellent info and much appreciated. @mightymouse was letting everyone shoot his scoped CZ 452 with the RWS at the last ENS on Feb 2nd. I liked that round for sure, in his rifle. I want to try some of the ones you have suggested in mine now.

If you're going to jack with the trigger start with the Ace Hdwe Prime-Line brand #144 spring. If that doesn't do it for you go with the Rifle Basix trigger. Stay away from the CZ Mr. Fly trigger.
My 455 hates Federal American Eagle Suppressor ammo.

Thanks! I had read about using the Ace Spring #144, or the Fastenal Spring #160. And you aren't the first one to warn me off the Mr. Fly either! Also, have read about removing the washer and/or the nut on the trigger rod. I have left everything stock so far, just adjusted the trigger nut down to the lowest position on the trigger rod, but might give the spring/washer/nut combo a try just for grins. I'm pretty happy with the trigger as it is right now, but I do like to tinker some. I have an ACE nearby, I may drive over there tomorrow and grab up the #144 spring out. Can't be more than a buck or two, and it won't take me long to swap it out and check anyway.
