Woman acted appropriately in shooting, Oklahoma County prosecutor says.
BY NOLAN CLAY Oklahoman Published: October 27, 2010

A Midwest City woman was justified in shooting two teenage intruders inside her home, Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater said Tuesday.

Amanda Walworth on Thursday killed one intruder, Marquis Lee Patterson, 15, and wounded another, Dewayne Edward Kemp, 15, police reported. The two were stepbrothers, police said.

Prater called the homeowner's actions entirely lawful, appropriate and commendable. He said she has been the victim of burglary at least twice before, once when she and her husband were home.

"Although I regret the loss of life... the citizens of Oklahoma County have a right to defend themselves in their homes, and I will aggressively protect that right," Prater said.

It really torques me that they release the name and address of these victims. Who gains from knowing who/where they are, except the people wanting revenge?

That really gets under my skin too! Correct me if i'm wrong, but don't the victims have to give the papers permission to release that info? Not being a smarta#@, just asking.

No clue but common sense would indicate to me at least that a homicide is a matter of public record whether self defense or not.

Then again, common sense and me have been known to disagree on occasion.
