We have totaled two vehicles and damaged one hitting deer. The woods are right next to the road we drive into the city on, so it's impossible to see them before its too late.
The worst was when my wife hit a buck, which made her vehicle do a 180 in the road, ending up in the far side ditch. She called me at work, and assured me she was ok, but the buck was really thrashing about.
I was only minutes away, but by the time I got there, only a red spot was left in the road. No buck.
Finally got the door opened and asked about the deer. She said that right after getting off the phone with me, two guys in a pickup came on the scene, looked right at her from a few feet away, then cut the throat of the deer and sped off, never checking to see if she was injured.
They must have been real hungry.

Insurance agent just informed me we do not have rental coverage on any of our vehicles.... <sigh>

Thanks, soon-to-be ex-wife, for taking care of that three years ago like I asked. DAMMIT.

We have a Doe with 2 fawns that crosses in front of us on our country road almost every morning. She walks across like she owns the place.
One of these days, she will meet up with someone that is not use to her antics, and she will be ground into sausage!

On another note, years ago, I hit one in KS with a 66 Fairlane that had at least a 180 rack. The sheriff would not let me have the rack,
but we did gut it and he took it to a boys home down the road.

Are they illegally crossing or is there a sign up marking the deer crosswalk? IF the sign is up, she does own the road and maybe you should see about getting the sign moved to a less travelled area for her to cross. :hithead:

I saw a documentary about deer on PBS the other day where they interviewed a game ranger in NY and he said in one county they estimate there are about 100 deer per square mile and "what we need is about 5 deer per square mile".:bigeye:

People plant shrubs that the deer like and that brings them into town where they are hit by cars in large numbers.
