Yeah, don’t dig without calling. Have you ever seen the video of the back hoe digging when it hit a gas line? Pretty wild especially for the dude running the machine.
Back in the day when just getting out of the Army went to work for a company that manufactured geo-seismic electronics. Machine shop for building chassis components in the back away from the assembly labs in the front building.
Company was in there putting in a new concrete parking lot and fixing the grade so it would drain correctly.
Guy on a backhoe starts screaming, so we run out of the building to see what's going on. He is standing on the ground holding both ends of a severed 1/2" pipe trying to shut off the flow with his thumbs, not having any luck.
He's screaming cut off the gas!! I said, dude, let it go. You ever see gas with 100 psi of pressure in a pipe? That's our air line from the compressor up front that runs to the building in the back. We didn't bury it deep enough when installing it.

The dude was trying to be a hero and you pissed on his parade.

The power company would have to do the work from the pole to the meter and a electrican from the panel under the meter to where you want the power. But saying that if their isnt a transformer on or before that pole they would have to set another transformer to match the size of service you are wanting. The pole may be on your property but it is still the power companies pole and line.
It's theirs till something happens to it,then since it's on your property they say it's your responsibility

Wut they said

Me? I would bury the cable, set up gate power, like you want (lights, plug access), then contact electrician to wire into breaker.

Just having a couple of lights, usage will be way under the minimum $ charge.

Solar will be easier, for lights only, but not as bright or dependable.
