That is doesn't look like black widow to me, although the body type is similar. The Females are large, significantly larger than males (males almost look like a baby spider in size comparison). Also the "Red Hourglass" is on the underside of the abdomen on a black widow, not on top like in that picture.
I'll bet it keeps that spider safer looking like a black widow. I can't stand spiders.
Hence the reason I gave up. Closest thing I could find was a red striped spider. But it showed to only live in Austrailia. So it fell into the category of let it die.
