I've been pushing for a NFL like play-off system in the college system for a while. I think it would be much more fair, you wouldn't have the power-house systems that are consistently ranked despite being horrible, etc...

I would have to agree. I remember them saying a while ago "It would be too many games". I guess they have never heard of march madness. lol. The play-off method is just a better way to weed out the bad teams. If you win, you move forward. If you lose, you're out. Better than people sayin "lets put these teams in the bowl"

There's been talk of change since it's inception. The problem is management. There's no way these people will give up the golden egg, thus satisfying millions, when those unsatisfied people still dish out the cash hand over fist.
The schools could make a lot more money with a playoff system, but the inconsequential bowls (and their sponsors) feel that they would suffer, and the current BCS bowls would definitely suffer, loss of income. Since they are all in bed with the BCS/NCAA, there's no way they'll give it up.
Seems like I retype this every year. It's like deja vu.

Too many people make too much money off of the current system, it'll never happen. The sad thing is that NCAA Div II has playoffs that work well and pretty much render any argument against taking Div I to playoffs moot.

Like others have said there is no way they are going to give up the golden money egg for a real play off championship type system.

Think that a Bracket system would work as well.

All teams in a state play against each other, then the winner from each state vs other states' team for the win.
