Both of my teens have been invited to become members of the DeMolay International and Its all new to me. From what I can find is that its a youth group of the Masonic sect . I have one friend that spoke highly of the organization. Does anyone else have any imput before its open house in a week?

Demolay along with Job's Daughters, Rainbow Girls are Masonic organizations for youth.
Demolay is a York Rite, Knight Templar, Council & Commandry oriented organization named after Jacque DeMolay the Knight Templar who was one of many Templars tortured and burned at the stake for Heresey by Pope Clement and King Phillip the 4th of France.

I was in DeMolay from Jr High through High School and it was a great group. Can’t imagine much has changed with the organization over the past 4 decades so I’d say by all means feel comfortable in letting him join. There are open ceremonies from time to time you could attend so I’d encourage you to check’m out.

I was in it in the late ‘60’s. Didn’t do much for me. Dad was disappointed (although he never said so), that I didn’t go farther. He joined the Mason in the ‘50’s, worked his way up to Shrine. My brother and I were supposed to follow in his footsteps.

I believe children/young adults should be taught by their parents, till they can think and act on their own as a mature adult. Letting others have access to teaching anything to your kids should be done with the utmost care, very watchful eye and oversight. And I include Public School as well.

Demolay is what you put into it . I joined in mid 70's, went through the offices ,received some awards, serviced as a chapter advisor later.
It teaches lessons that are lacking today ,brotherhood, respect, commitment, how to be upright, be a good friend/teacher/citizen .
One young men in my chapter was the brother of a Camp Scott Victim when he came in he was remote and stand offise but with time he bloomed becoming outgoing and a fine young man and went on to have a good life and many friends.
Some of members /adults your son meets will be his friends for life and be there for him in times of need .
