I hate all of them. That said, I have Direct. As soon as my "new" contract is up, Im going to hang one in them or have it turned off. They have gotten even worse since they merged with AT&T.

I agree, I don't think there's a good apple in the bunch. That being said, we've been with DISH a long time and are familiar with their DVR/menu style, etc. I don't think any other provider offers a compelling argument to switch, so we're going to see what happens. We pay way too much for cable, and I work so much I watch very little, but The Wife watches a helluva lot more than me, so it's worth it to her, I suppose.

Today is the day, we'll see if they try to con or dupe us. If they do, I suspect it won't go well... I'll probably be asleep, but The Wife will deal with them and she won't take any BS from 'em.

Right here
We went on a cruise last year to the Carib. On one of the excursions, the director got to talking about amenities in the area and was asked about Direct and Dish. "Oh sure, we have all channels, HBO, Cinemax, Showtime everything. How much does it cost? About $25 per mo." Really pissed everybody off considering what we have to pay.

Yeah, well, apparently the install and everything went off without a hitch. Wife said she signed the work order and was not asked to sign a contract, so all was good.

Then, later this evening while I'm at work, she texts me and asks me, "Did Dish mention to you about an installation fee?"

Holy f00k, you gotta be kidding me.

So she says she got the email receipt for the work order, and her signature also now appears on a Dish It Up Plan which talks about receiver upgrade fee of up to $400 and a tech visit fee of $95.

:pissed::pissed::pissed::pissed::pissed:

She signed the work order electronically, and it looks like they transferred her signature to this other agreement, too. What a bunch of MFing crooks.

That's ok, we'll fight it and get a lawyer involved if we need to - at this point it will be about the principle of the thing, not the cost. I have it explicitly in writing from the live conversation I had with their rep on the website where I specifically asked if there would be ANY other costs associated with this and they agreed there would be none other than a monthly bill increase of $3.

Sooo.... we'll see how it goes when we fight it out with them. So far, nothing has shown up on my bill on the website, so if they don't charge me, it'll be cool.

But beware, folks... signing things electronically could come back and bite you in the MFing arse!

Same thing here, I electronically signed off for my parents "install" on their tablet. Next day, a PDF shows up in "contract" form with my signature on it.

Next months bill will include the $95 installation fee.

Lawyers probably won't be needed, argue over the phone with someone in the Philippines, call them liars, threaten to drop, and they'll give you a $95 credit....

^^^He speaks the truth. I have to argue and threaten DISH with dropping them every 6 months or so. It sucks, but I believe they're cheaper than Direct and have better equipment.

It don't bother me to sign a contract because I like dish. Don't ever plan on leaving. They have always treated us good. Direct always tries to get me to switch and asks me what I pay and for how many Channels and dvr's. I tell them the price and they always say "oh my gosh that is way too high." But when I ask their price it is a promotion price that ain't that much cheaper than what I pay and it doesn't come with near the channels or rooms. Direct is a joke. They are way too high and I don't like their equipment. But to each their own.

Yeah, I don't really have any intention of leaving, but I'm not paying for this crap, specifically after they told me I didn't have to.

I don't abide bait-and-switch.
