F 250 with v10

I wouldn't buy a V10 until 2001, they got a lot of the bugs worked out.

I'd consider 214K very high, and of course it will burn so much gas you'll think you're dumping half of it on the ground.

That motor, well maintained, is good for more than 300K. A poorly maintained 7.3L is good for 500,000 plus. The V10 will get 10mpg no matter what you do with it.

I assure you that it can get less. Don't think the 99 F-350 we have has ever gotten more than 10 and usually single digits. It doesn't get driven much any more. Oh and on the 2nd motor and the 3rd trans needs rebuilt again. Approx 120k miles.

And people wonder why I'm not a Ford fan boy.

Seems high. But it all depends. What about the rest of the truck? Like suspension parts. Doors, windows and other wearable parts.

My sister is going to be selling one due to her husband's passing - 99 Ford F250 with 111K; V10/auto/2WD. Has been used to pull a fifth-wheel camper. They bought it with the 31ft trailer a few years ago and her first choice will be to sell them as a package. Located in Frederick.

I have no experience with the 6.8 V-10 but the 4.6 and 5.4 mod motors are built well.

I got 11 mpg in my '99 F250 V10 after I replaced the motor at 110K miles. Had trouble with the cylinder heads blowing out spark plugs in mine.

The secretary where I used to work bought an Excursion right after they came out with a V10. I asked her one day how it did on fuel and she said they never got more than 8mpg with it but also tried to tell me that fuel economy never was an issue with her and her husband. A few months later they moved 60 miles away. 2 weeks after they moved and she was driving back and forth she bought a little Chevy car to drive back and forth.
