Hard to beat the sound of a RR Merlin in a Mustang
I was a B 52 crewchief, 8 hour pre flights made me grumpy

The Stearman's cheap (and the T-6 relatively so); check the Skyraider, P-51, and Corsair!I used to live north of Dallas and drive by the Addison Airport everyday to get to work. The first time I saw their Stearman out flying, I almost attended because I couldn't keep my eyes off of it.
I always wanted to take a flight in it, but the money always found other ways to be spent.
Yeah, they didn't have the Corsair when I lived down there (or at least I don't remember it). I about fell out of my chair when I saw that price. The Stearman's cheap (and the T-6 relatively so); check the Skyraider, P-51, and Corsair!

I've always wanted to try an Ercoupe. I've flown the Alon Aircoupe, but not the Ercoupe. (For those not familiar, the Ercoupe came first, and had no rudder pedals; the Aircoupe was a later variant, and did have controllable rudders.)View attachment 112836 This is my current favorite. 1947 Ercooupe 415 C/D. Addition of rudder pedals was a common modification to the originals. A lot of folks tried to talk me out of buying one at all; but, if I was going to, they said to be sure it had the rudder pedal mod. Too bad it never worked out.
