I prefer to mount all of my optics, including magnified optics, at whatever location that makes it easier to get the rifle in the safe without scratching it.

I also look at weight distribution. If it doesn't balance well, I can't prop it up for internet pictures.

99% of interweb users can't be wrong.

All kidding aside......I run Comp C3's in ADM cantilever mounts placed at the very end of the upper receiver.
