Fly Rod - 10 fish - over 100 pounds!

After trying over 10 years to catch a carp on a fly rod, I finally did it! Not only that, I caught 10 carp yesterday morning that weighed from 10 pounds to 12 pounds each!!!

It took me anywhere from 12 to 20 minutes to bring each one of these fish in, and in over 40 years of fly fishing, this was the most fun I have ever had!

I just got 1 picture before my phones battery went dead, but my wife took a couple of videos that I'll post, when we figure out how...

These are the flies that I used:

I used an 8 wt. fly rod/reel with WF7F fly line with my own hand tied 10 ft. leader...

All runs went well into the backing, and it was a good thing I took my #8 rod, because I don't I could have landed these fish on my lighter weight trout rods! I know it's been done, but I'll stick to the heavier rods...

Can't wait for the next chance to go! I am so ready!

Congrats! Haven't had my fly rods out in years! Anything caught on a fly rod is just a lot more fun!

Rod, reel and dough bait is fun, but what a difference it is using a fly rod! Many times I was worried that my rod was going to snap in two, but it held up better than I did...

India - fly fishing adds a whole new level of excitement to fishing, especially when you get into the bigger fish, like these carp...

Mugsy - that is a crawfish pattern with bead chain eyes. I tied those three flies, with the shrimp pattern and the crawfish pattern meant to ride hook point up, so when they are fished on the bottom, there is less chance of them snagging or getting caught on bottom structure...

Cowcatcher - I have never downloaded a video before, so this will be an experiment unto itself!
