I worked for this man for 5 1/2 years when I was a student worker/graduate assistant at Ok State University...
After that, when when the college hired me as a full time employee,,,
I was Robin to his Batman at the College of Education.

All told we worked together and had a great time doing so,,,
That working relationship lasted for well over a decade.

I carried his 3-day old daughter around the building we worked at,,,
Telling all the people that I bought her from the gypsies,,,
She's now graduating from Tulsa State University.

He saw me transition from an angry 46 year old man,,,
To a successful employee at the College.

After better than a decade he quit to become a principal at a Catholic school,,,
Since he moved out of town I don't see him and his family very often,,,
But when we do it's usually at his FIL's place for some "chooting".

Last year I gave his daughter a "Lady Lilac" Ruger LC9,,,
And a Twisted Industries .22 LR adapter kit,,,
She took to the pistol very nicely

I also gave his 11 year old son a nicely scoped Savage Mk-II F rifle,,,
We shot about 150 rounds through it that last range trip,,,
You should have seen his eyes when I said "It's yours."

This trip he's getting a nice Rossi .22 LR SA/DA revolver,,,
It has an 8-shot cylinder with a 4" barrel,,,
It should get him started nicely.

So today is cleaning and oiling the guns I'll be shooting,,,
Preparing a ton of paper targets to punch holes in,,,
And filling the cooler with water and snacks.

I just hope the rain holds off,,,
According to my phone's weather app,,,
There's a fifty-fifty chance of some precipitation.

But hey,,,
If it rains us out,,,
At least I'll get to see him and his family.

I'm sort of their adopted crazy uncle.

Well the day was perfect for shooting,,,
It was in the low 80's with good cloud cover.

I took my pair of Kel Tec P17 pistols for the kids to shoot,,,
They happily burned through 550 rounds of Federal Bulk Ammo.

Their Mom shot one of the Kel Tec's as well,,,
She did pretty good at 7 yards distance,,,
48 rounds with most in a 4" circle.

Those little Kel Tec pistols performed perfectly,,,
Not one jam or malfunction of any kind.

The 12 year old boy also shot my Rossi R98 Plinker,,,
It's an 8-shot SA/DA revolver with 4" barrel,,,
He actually did pretty well with it.

Todd and I shot a variety of semi-auto pistols,,,
I had packed all three of my Beretta Cheetahs for the trip,,,
Model 87 in .22 LR - Model 85 in .380 ACP - and Model 81 in .32 ACP.

I also packed my CZ pistols,,,
75-B Kadet in .22 LR - 75-B in 9mm.

I had an ulterior motive for choosing those five pistols,,,
After we shot several mags through each of them,,,
I asked him which of them he liked the best.

He really liked the style of the Berettas,,,
I mean who doesn't like Berettas?

But he also shot the CZ's very well,,,
He did very well with both the .22 and 9mm.

After we shot all of them a bit more,,,
I asked him again which of them he liked best,,,
He thought about it a while than decided the CZ's were his favorites.

I said, "are you sure?"

He said he was sure,,,
So I told him that he would inherit the CZ's,,,
Either on my demise or when/if I get too decrepit to shoot them.

His son said that he liked shooting the revolver,,,
It was easier to load than those 16 round Kel Tec mags,,,
And to tell the truth he was more accurate with that revolver.

So I gifted it to him on the spot,,,
It was always my intention to gift it to him,,,
I was thrilled to know it was the one he liked best.

It's a good companion piece to the Savage Mk-II rifle I gave him last year,,,
A good bolt-action rifle paired with a good revolver,,,
That would have been my dream kit as a kid.

The revolver went with the original box and all original paperwork,,,
As well as an uncle Mikes range holster and zipper case.

Needless to say he was thrilled,,,
It was very satisfying for me.

The only disappointment was a typical one,,,
She brought the Lady Lilac Ruger LC9 that I gifted to her last year,,,
But she forgot to bring the box of accessories that I provided for her use,,,
One of those accessories was the Twisted Industries .22 LR adapter kit for the Ruger.

So it was a good thing I brought the Kel Tec's along,,,
She shot half a box of 9mm through her Ruger,,,
And did very well with it as well.

Anyways it was just a dang fun day,,,
We all went to a little Mexican place for a late lunch,,,
After that Todd and I abandoned the wife and kids for a few beers.

All in all It was the most fun I've had in several months,,,
Next time they will come to Stillwater and we'll go shooting at my Rifle/Pistol club.

We agreed that shooting trip will be for playing with our rifles,,,
He recently bought himself a Ruger 10/22,,,
It needs a good breaking in.
