OP, I wouldn’t think twice and making your planned trip in that old truck.
We just rolled into my driveway from spending a couple days with our grandson in Lamesa TX, and it was a 1000 mile round trip and did it in a 2011 F250 gasser with 235k on it pulling a 16’ gooseneck aluminum stock trailer. I’ll be making another 1000 mile round trip to my place up there in a few weeks, but I plan to get an oil change and tire rotation before then.

It sounds like the pickup has been maintained properly over the years and is more fit to travel than many vehicles we see on the road these days. I think you'll find that the pickup is. pleasure to drive especially with the sentiment associated. Have fun and enjoy the trip, your grandfather would want that.and you might even talk to him sort of... I had to pick up the ashes of my step dad and as I pulled into the drive with his ashes, I told him, "Well Curt, I brought you home." It may sound funny or even odd but sometimes you have to say what you feel.

I wouldn’t hesitate to make the trip. Might want to toss in some basic tools which I always carry in case of a mishap.
Some basic spare parts, too. Alternator, distributor, distributor cap, spark plugs & wire set. I've had minor trouble with each of those in the past 15 years with mu 98 Silverado. Spare fluids, too.
