As some of you may know, I've had my house and cars damaged by hail back in May. Im insured with Travelers and have had them from day one, when I bought my house, 10 years ago. I've never had a claim with them until May and that was just a CAT claim, can't control that. The repairs were completed about a month ago and they sent someone out to do the final inspection in order to release the final check.

I have 4 dogs that are Golden Retriever mix, not sure with what. They are outside dogs, three of them stay in my back yard. I've built a 10x10 shed for them back there. The other one is over by my garage section, they are separated by a chain link gate. They are not aggressive or vicious. I've had two pit-bulls climb my 6' foot privacy fence last year and attack them and they didn't even fight back, just laid on the ground.

Ok so two weeks ago this lady shows up, in crutches. She says shes from the Insurance and she is here to collect pictures of the work completed on the house. I say sure, come on in. I show her where the damage was and what they fixed. She started taking photos. We now go outside, The dog that is by the garage area sniffs her legs and tries to lick her hand as soon as we walk outside and I can tell that this lady is tensing up. I reassured her that he will not bite. The dogs do look mean but are the very opposite. The three in the back, I locked them up in their yard out of the way so they don't lick her to death or bother her while she's doing her thing not because they will bite someone. She gets done and leaves.

Two days ago I get a letter stating this:

WRITTEN NOTICE IS GIVEN TO YOU AS: THE NAMED INSURED.

We wish to inform you that your policy designated above will not be continued at the expiration of its current policy period on 10/27/2010 at the hour on which the policy became effective. If you have any questions regarding this notice, please contact your agent or insurance representative.

We are nonrenewing your policy because the risk does not meet our minimum underwriting requirements as described below:

There are vicious and or aggressive dogs on the premises.

I call, explain to them that I've been their customer for 10 years and I 've had only one claim, a CAT claim or Catastrophe claim. I asked if that lady is a dog expert or has training to determine if a dog is aggressive or vicious just by looking at one? They said no, our employees are not trained to do such a thing. I then asked what made her bring such allegation forth? She said that she would contact her and ask her. I told her that I was with her the entire time and my dogs didn't even bark at her, not alone act aggressive or vicious as she put it.

Is this amazing or what. Not sure what to do at this point. I guess I'll wait and see. Just thought I would share this ridiculous issues I'm dealing with right now. Im sorry for the long read.

I've never had complaints for loud dogs, aggressive dogs, they barely bark at the mail man, let alone attack someone. I would not have dogs like that around my kids anyway. I don't train my dogs to be vicious or be aggressive.

I asked who made the allegations and they said it was her. Well she was accompanied by me the entire time, she was never left alone. If someone comes on my property, I'll know because I have cameras. My guess is that she's one of those people that don' t like dogs or is very terrified by them. I worked with a guy from South Africa that would freak out at the sight of a dog. That is all I can think of. Should I get a lawyer is the question??

Fight it.
If you can't win, expose them for what they've done. Do the In your Corner thing and show how "aggressive" the dogs are and the letters from the ins. co. bad publicity makes buttholes pucker.

Lol, I love people like this, just one less person I have to worry about. I have German Shepherds and I take my male with me alot of places. Just because he is the best dog I have ever owned and a real pleasure to be around. Everyone on my block knows the dogs are as gentle as they come.

I loaded him up in the back of the truck to go down the street for some Ice and brew "only enough leash to stand and sit". When I pulled up there was a Hispanic guy getting out of his car and we were talking about Max. He is a full blood shepherd, AKC and tops the scales at 90lbs. Hes a big guy.. He liked the Police dog look that he has??? we talked about him and he petted him and waiting in line after me. This black dude pulled up and rolled down his window and was like "does that thing bite"?? I told him no he was a good dog. Keep in mind he was tied in my truck the whole time... This dude refused to get out of his car until I was in the street on my way home. Go figure.

Blankety-blank insurance. Phone call to somebody in a position in the company to do something about the situation.. If no satisfaction there, MIGHT mention complaint to state insurance commissioner and possiblity of informing the local TV news consumer complaint folks.

I had a scenario with my insurance company(name withheld) that was going to non-renew my college student daughter on my automobile insurance policy. Call to agent revealed "home office" had made the determination she was uninsureable. This was THREE years after she had a fender bender that was her fault. Only ticket/incident she had ever had. This was allegedly the incident that made them decide my daughter could not be insured.

I pointed out to the insurance agent that my daughter had ONE ticket that was associated with this one incident and it took the company THREE YEARS to come to the conclusion she was uninsureable.

I gave the agent 48 hours to get it straightened out before I would make a formal complaint with the state insurance commissioner and contact KFOR's Brad Edwards. I told her I was quite confident the local TV folks would love to air the story about her company's efficiency.

She called me the next day and told me the home office "discovered" that because I had had my insurance with them for so long(over 20 years at the time), that I had guaranteed renewability and they had made a mistake.

Never heard another word about it......

Go figure.
