I dont blame GM and the engineers as much as do the .gov in mandating fuel efficiency and safety standards that are becoming more and more Orwellian.

In order to meet those standards things become, shall we say, more complicated.

I had the starter off of my 350" engine in my 1947 Dodge truck it took me 3 minutes and 31 seconds to have the new starter on, wired up and hook the battery back up, turn the key and make it start.


A friend timed me.
I thought it would take about 7 minutes.
You rich boys can have this new stuff.
That is some Hillbilly Redneck, NASSCAR stuff right there now.
Great time on the starter, were you on the side of the road?
Just wondering incase I need to run some shine, I have a 58 Studebaker PU that need some repair, might be looking for some one to fix it and ride shotgun.

Not really but it sounds fun.

I was in the street in front of my house that is kind of the same.
I let my buddies take it to get some parts for his truck to fix his AC system, they called me at the gas station and said it was not starting.

I drove my 95 Corolla there to try and fix it but the starter was indeed bad.
SO I towed the truck home with the Camouflage Corolla.

That probably counts as Redneck

Just asking for Brian Bosworth.
Bosworth was lying (as he did quite often in his book). The multiple inspections each car received before going out the door would have found such a thing quickly. It never happened.

When GM-OKC brought in OU football players as "summer help" it turned out to be a disaster. They were assigned gravy jobs, and all they did was bitch and whine about having to work. The program didn't last long after that.

I was in USAFE from very late 1991 until early 1996. Lindsey AS, Sembach AS, and Ramstein. Seems to me there should be one other in there. 1st Mob. When we got to Ramstein, we were put in the revetments that were no longer in use. I was mostly an REMF by then. Sent my guys out to various fine places like Tuzla Air Field, and Rwanda... Enlisted in the last years of the war in Vietnam, Spent 3 years and two tours in Turkey, in the mid to late 80's. 15 minutes flight time from the nearest Soviet airfield. CONUS before and after that, and Germany. Fun times! Some more than others. Messed up my knees in 1975 and got out of being a crew chief, did photography for a decade, then SATCOM for the last 12 years to make my 24. Got the Fogy raise, and retired in the OKC Metro, and raised three kids here. Still raising a couple of them.
Did my time in the late 80's Ramstein with many TDY's across Europe. Incirlik for Desert Shield/Storm/Provide Comfort/??? think there was another operation or two I help out with. Then went to states to Hill. With the draw down and BRAC I looked around and got an early out. I foresaw the Air Force would suck in the future and punched out, I really didn't wanted to be deployed again and again to Saudi after getting back to the US. Most of the E-7's and above in my shop at Hill retired early. I was a weapons troop back shop and line, was looking to cross train to something different. I had a love/hate relationship with my troubleshooting position, I hated spending a day and half working on a wing weapon pylon to narrow it down to a loose pin. But it felt great to get it working again. But I know how to fix almost any electronic item I own, and that is really amazing since I have forgotten alot since then.

My cousins Lincon Navigator required pulling the engine to change the water pump which Is internal now.
Oh crap, what year model is it and I wonder if that is the case with a 2015? My mom passed and she had a nice Navigator and my sister needed a newer vehicle so me and my brother decided to give it to her rather than selling it and splitting the money 3 ways.

Yeah I pretty much knew it was a put on, I used to know a lot of guys and gals who worked out there, I lived in Bethel Acres, for a while back in the 80's, a bunch of the neighbors either worked at GM or Tinker, My Uncle owned a Quick stop on 102 hwy and Bethel road corner and one up close to the school. I used to wash windows and pump gas while they went in to get coffee, cigs and donuts. He would open at 4:00 am, just for them, we tried to treat them all special. They were awesome customers. Great people in that area.

I honestly don’t know the year. Next time I talk to him, I’ll ask.
