I was going to replace my wife's alternator I figured how hard could it be? I checked on Youtube and it turns out her 2005 Hyundai need the AC disconnected in the process which is past my skill level.
According to the parts diagram, the 2015 has the internal water pump (being the timing cover). Based on the date range for the parts, it looks like that design was only used on the Navigator in the 2015 MY.
I did one of the first starter replacements on a USA Mini Cooper in 2003.
Stated the exhaust header needed removed and starter was under it.
NO starters in Oklahoma parts stores for that vehicle then. They came out in the states in 2002.
Cousin ran a supply shop that sold parts to auto shops and even Oreilly auto parts. Cousin is out of Texas and he got me one and said there is only 1 available that he found.
I swapped it without removing that header.
Sometimes you can finagle things around to keep from doing what the book states to do.
I made $1 off my neighbor for the repair.
I told her a price that the starter was and told her a total price and the starter ended up being more.
I ate it.
I was happy to get her rolling again though.
