I can't believe there is not a thread about the Askin/Fallin debate last night ... Surely GC and I were not the only ones who watched it ...

What did ya'll think??

From a strictly non-political viewpoint I believe that Jari Askins shot herself in the foot. Being angry at your opponent because she is a better politician than you are is unbecoming and does not further your cause. Seems she would have been better served focusing on what she believes she can do for Oklahoma, rather than bad-mouthing Fallin.

And what was wrong with Linda last night?? She kept getting "lost" ... The panel of experts though had some very good questions. Overall, I was entertained. Didn't see anything that was unexpected (well, except Askins 3-minute opening statement tirade). :lookaroun

Didn't change my vote ...

Listening to them they both annoyed me.

There were some talking points that I took away though - Askin was for a state-wide camera system whereas Fallin talked against it.

They're both for cutting taxes and fixing the local budget (are they really gonna cut that much out of state agencies to be able to do both?).

I'm not a big fan of most politicians.

Ditto ...

GC has spent nearly his entire career in the Capitol or the Gov's Mansion ... I personally would have gone postal years ago ... Hell I get pissed off now when he comes home with his war stories and after 10 years you'd think I would be used to them now ... :grumble: Regardless of party they are all the same in the end ... I don't think any of them really care about anything except their own personal power grab ...

Askins said several times she wanted to extend statutory budgets from 12 months to 2 years ... once she even said 3 years ... I never did catch why she thought this was a good idea though. Although Fallin didn't come right out and say it I got the impression that she was not in favor of changing the budgets.

She (Fallin) did talk about trimming the number of state agencies we have which I think is a good thing. However, talking about and doing are two different things ... you have not seen a fight until you have seen some little piddly agency director who is afraid he is gonna lose 1. money from his budget or 2. his office ...

Why is it that the dems are starting to sound like repubs these days?
I'm a conservative. I'm a conservative.
Heck if you're gonna act like a repub why don't you just join up with them?

LOL ... that is a good question ... I got kinda tickled when Askins said "I am a conservative Democrat." Kind of an oxymoron ...

Well I realize that most Oklahoma Democrats wouldn't fit in at a New York Democratic state convention, but if you're gonna call yourself a Democrat act and talk like one.
