Just to clarify my anti-Gundy stance,,,
It has nothing at all to do with his coaching.

I'm not really much of a sports fan anyways,,,
And couldn't tell you his record if asked.

It has to do with the fact that every time I've had any dealings with him,,,
He's proven himself to be an arrogant, narcissistic, arse-hole.

He used to do a live broadcast from Joseppi's Italian eatery in Stillwater,,,
His crew set up at a table in a corner of the bar area.

I was there one evening when he was broadcasting,,,
There was a 6-7 year old girl wearing an OSU cheerleader outfit,,,
She was waiting there with a game program in hopes of getting an autograph.

Her grandfather was there with her assisting her in her wait,,,
She was very excited as could be seen in her demeanor,,,
But she had waited very politely for many minutes.

When Gundy got up to leave the table her grandfather nudged her forward,,,
Gundy didn't actually stiff-arm the girl but he did put his arm out,,,
Then quickly side-stepped her and headed for the door.

I was astounded by his action,,,
She had been waiting there for at least 10 minutes,,,
There's no way in creation that Gundy couldn't have noticed her.

But rather than take a moment to sign a young fan's program,,,
He just left her standing there as he hurried out the door.

My friend was getting up to chase him down but the grandfather beat her to it,,,
Which was probably a good thing as my friend was a 225 lb. woman,,,
With a bad temper and no social inhibitions whatsoever.

The old man was right behind Gundy and caught him in the parking lot,,,
There was lots of shouting and hand waving but no fight.

My money was on the old man who was physically quite large,,,
Gundy did finally deign to sign the program,,,
Then the old man did something amazing.

He wadded it up and threw it back in Gundy's face.

When he came back into the restaurant,,,
He was greeted with loud clapping.

That is just one of the three times I personally witnessed him being an entitled jerk.

That pretty much sums up my personal interactions with him. Granted, they were nearly 20 years ago, back in 2005.

Through my job, I've had dealings with many of the coaches from both universities (Oklahoma State and Oklahoma) along with a handful of "celebrities". He is the only person that I've met in my life that used the phrase "Do you know who I am?"...and that was in his first year as HC. I can only imagine how much the ego has grown since. Both he and Brian VanGorder (former defensive analyst) are easily two of the worst individuals that I've had the misfortune of interacting with.

Seems to be a silly move by OSU. Retain a washed up disgruntled coach and expect him to be the least bit motivated is not likely a good business plan. Gundy will be on coast mode and simply milking it for all he can. Not fair to the fans either.
One way to look at it. The other way is what he has accomplished and who they could get to do any better. Good thing they didn't ask either one of us. What a difference a year makes in the minds of some alleged fans.

Seems attitude goes with the winning job, thinking of Bobby Knight throwing the red chair in Indiana. haha

One could argue that all people at his level,,,
Are stereotypical Type-A personalities.

Combine that ego with the privileges that come with their jobs,,,
It's a wonder more of them aren't in the news every day.

I once heard a movie star at an airport use that "Do you know who I am?" phrase,,,
The person who he was yelling at said, "Yeah, you're a celebrity who's about to get his ass kicked."

Just because you're a stereotypical Type-A personality, doesn't mean you have to be an *******. I mean I haven't figured out how to do it yet but surely someone has!
