Wind Turbine Blades Can't Be Recycled

"A wind turbine’s blades can be longer than a Boeing 747 wing, so at the end of their lifespan they can’t just be hauled away. First, you need to saw through the lissome fiberglass using a diamond-encrusted industrial saw to create three pieces small enough to be strapped to a tractor-trailer.

The municipal landfill in Casper, Wyoming, is the final resting place of 870 blades whose days making renewable energy have come to end. The severed fragments look like bleached whale bones nestled against one another.

“That’s the end of it for this winter,” said waste technician Michael Bratvold, watching a bulldozer bury them forever in sand. “We’ll get the rest when the weather breaks this spring.”


Tens of thousands of aging blades are coming down from steel towers around the world and most have nowhere to go but landfills. In the U.S. alone, about 8,000 will be removed in each of the next four years. Europe, which has been dealing with the problem longer, has about 3,800 coming down annually through at least 2022, according to BloombergNEF. It’s going to get worse: Most were built more than a decade ago, when installations were less than a fifth of what they are now."

The problem isn't that they "can't" be recycled, the problem was there was nobody in the US "to" recycle them. That's not the case anymore in 2021.

A lot of Eurpoean countries also recycle their windmill blades. Used in engineering projects for various uses... Roofing, utility poles, Germany has been grinding them up to produce reinforced concrete for more than a decade now. The US in this aspect just fell victim of our own throwaway culture, but that's now changing.

Tx has too much commifornika influence because the ERCOT agency in Tx that runs their private grid is located in Austin. A bastion of liberal thinking.
Wind and Solar were going to make them green but it failed when mother nature said global warming is fake science.
I spent many years in the power production industry and know how politics can rule that industry, especially in Ok.
OG&E was willing to spend mega bucks to put in a new base load power plant that would run when the temps reached what is going on now.
The OK corporation commission refused the request after over 100 million dollars had been spent on environment and site surveys saying wind power was the future and denied the request for a new base load plant.
Tx did the same and they are a disaster now.

How are you going to get the blades to Tennessee?
Look at a map of the USA and look at a map of Germany
1) You use more energy in trying to recycle them in Tennessee, than putting in a land fill
2) Cost to get them there. (Trucking)
3) Fees to Tennessee to recycle them

Grid operator continues to restore power

AUSTIN, TX, Feb. 17, 2021 – The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) continues to make progress on restoring power to the electric system.

"We are working around the clock to restore power to Texans," said ERCOT President and CEO Bill Magness. "We made progress today, but it will not be good enough until every person has their power back."

Since this morning, ERCOT has been able to restore approximately 8,000 MW, which is about 1.6 million households. This afternoon, there was sufficient generation available to begin restoring 1,000 MW every hour.

"We’re at a point in the restoration where we’re going to keep energizing circuits as fast as we safely can until we run out of available generation," said ERCOT Senior Director of System Operations Dan Woodfin. "We hope to make significant progress overnight."

It is possible that by morning, as load increases, local utilities may be able to go back to rotating outages versus keeping power off for extended periods of time.

As of 6 p.m., approximately 43,000 MW of generation has been forced off the system during this extreme winter weather event. Of that, 26,500 MW is thermal and nearly 17,000 MW is wind and solar.

1. It is now proven that the deep state did it on purpose, because ZERO (0) AND I MEAN ZERO wind generators shut down, and they were the excuse the deep state used to explain why the power went out. They hatched a lie that "freezing rain built up on the blades, thus forcing shut down" and then simply switched off the entire 30 gigawatts the wind turbines could produce under ideal conditions, via the shutdown of coal, nuclear, and natural gas. PROBLEM: Not only were ZERO wind turbines actually shut down, but they over produced - they produced far more power than is anticipated at this time of the year.
   
   
2. They hatched a lie that natural gas powered electric could not make up for the wind turbines that shut down "because the filters in the natural gas systems froze". PROBLEM: As it turns out, there were ZERO (0) incidents of gas outages due to frozen filters, and the real problem was that homes were using more gas than usual, which competed with the gas the power generating facilities used. That was not enough to cause a problem.
   
   
3. THE REAL PROBLEM: Coal and nuclear were switched off. There was no reason for this. There were no coal shortages and absolutely no reason to switch off the nuclear reactors, other than to cause a crisis.

In the end, here is what actually happened: Excess wind power made up for the competition for natural gas, and kept what little of Texas was powered running, while coal and nuclear were switched off. The scamming communists then hatched the story about frozen wind turbines and never expected anyone to call them on their lie. THIS IS WHAT VOTE FRAUD LOOKS LIKE. WELCOME TO AGGRESSIVE COMMUNIST MANIPULATION OF INFRASTRUCTURE, BACKED UP BY MSM LIES. And if "they" want to snope that, I'd like to see Snopes debunk what ARS technica said, though what ARS said was said sideways, at least if you read the entire report and summed it up, the truth could be gleaned from it. Here is how they got away with raping the public for so much money: Various providers within the Texas power system were operating on trust and simply set their rate acceptance to "auto". So someone who had infiltrated the system (SHIN BET) was waiting to pounce on this disaster because they knew it was coming. For about a day they increased it 1,000 times normal (with devastating prices not quite as high for a longer period), and that just went through the system and got charged to customers. Just wait for the bills to arrive! It will be horrific beyond belief."
