I've been using Topaz Adjust plugin. http://www.topazlabs.com/adjust/

And frame with onOne essentials. http://www.ononesoftware.com/products/photo-essentials/

Very striking images firewire. I wish the depth of focus was just a little deeper though. Ill have to look into those programs. Do you mind sharing your technique?

Believe it or not I used a 16mm at F2.8 just because that was what was on my camera and I was too lazy to change it/ wanted to experiment. :)

With photoshop I used my filter option to select the Topaz plugin. Then Topaz adjust has about 50 presets to get you started. I used the "Spicy" option then tweaked the detail and boosted saturation.

Once that is done I use the onOne Essentials filter to pick a frame (which is really just a layer) then color it black then save as a jpeg.

It is really a quick thing to do once you do it a few times. Both plug in's were like $50 I think each. It has been well worth it. I don't always boost the saturation like that. I just wanted a more dramatic look. It works very well on shots with clouds to look very much like true HDR when you apply it correctly.

Then again you can always bracket and take three shots and have true hdr!
