Doesn't. Dec 14 patent date make it a m&p and not 1905? That's what I always understood. I've been carrying sn 983xxx barrel has been cut back to 3 1/4inches and lanyard ring removed and filled so it was obviously a military gun of some type very close to v model.

Looks like late S series to me. Smith used some new small ejector knobs on late S series revolvers. 1948 they started the pre-10s. This old revolver has long action hammer and one line address = pre 1948 s series gun.
