.........legal to possessing and manufacture in Oklahoma? I have been thinking about building one, but I can't find any reference for legality. If you know of something on this, please feel free to site your source or reference. It would be a smoothbore muzzleloader type it that makes any difference.

I'm gonna say yes, but compromise it with a "check with your local DA", just to make certain. But to strengthen my yes, I'll say I'd bet a dime to a donut they are legal. And that's a big wager for me.

Plan on building one in the next few weeks...as I understand it, perfectly legal as long as they are muzzleloaded blackpowder ( can be rifled if you can machine it).

I'm told that golf balls make good projectiles.
I don't know that personally, but have read that on the internet.

Where is Sparky? He'll know about all of this more than I...
Golf balls would make great aerodynamic, at-hand projectiles.
Mine will be a .50 bore Parrott imitation.

I did a little google fu, and found this:

Black Powder / Cannon - United States of America - Ownership.
According to United States Federal Regulations, a cannon that is not capable of firing fixed ammunition (fixed ammunition refers to a projectile and powder charge than can be loaded as a single unit) and manufactured on or before 1898, and replicas thereof, are antiques and not subject to the provisions of either the Gun Control Act of 1968 or the National Firearms Act of 1934.

That's good info, and I can't imagine Oklahoma being more restrictive in this regard, but I'll keep looking for a specific mention in the statutes tomorrow. Right now I'm too tired to read anymore.
