I rode in my uncle's XKE in Hutchinson, KS. I know it was a V12. That thing scared me. Not with the speed or acceleration, it was the fact I was inside a British manufacturing product and it had a lousy braking system. It was a go fast machine but more of a riveted together carnival ride instead of a quality motorcar.
Go check out those" carnival rides" on bringatrailer. I wished I had a few to sell. This 1962 Mk II was the first car with 4 wheel disc brakes. One of the reasons they won so many races back then, they could brake quicker before a corner. Your uncle's car had to be a 1971 or newer. By 1971 other cars may have had better brakes or maybe your uncle's car needed work. This 62' is the only car I've ever seen that had grease zerks on the door hinges. It is a hand built car, not the mass produced cars built here.
