I may be getting sick

I have found I am not wanting to reload for some calibers anymore.
And I have actually thought of selling off the rifles I no longer want to reload for.

I think it is because the disease of the .223 caliber.
My little .223 rifles are stupid accurate and deadly and I find myself taking the cut barrel Savage axis all the time into the deer woods.
I think why do I have 308, 243, 6.5 CM or 30-06 and I never shoot my 12 gauges anymore why do I need so many of them.

That .223 I tossed stones at for years has made me sick or something as I do not want to mess with anything else.

Well, I’ll say that the .243win/.308 have some crossover due to the case, so that’s nice. And then .30-06, that’s America’s caliber. Enough said after winning two world wars. And 6.5CM for when you’re wanting to go long, real long without as much as wind and vertical corrections.
But then .308 is just a shorter .30-06…
And 12 ga is almost the utmost in utility in terms of available payloads.

Tough choices.

If you stick with 5.56, .308 and .30-06 you’ll likely have surplus military ammo options for a long time, though the -06 is really mostly dried up.

I did this same thing about 7 years ago Jeff. I went down to 223, 22, 38/357, 9mm and 12g. Every other caliber, I got rid of. That included all my re loaders, components, rifles and pistols of varying calibers and all ammo for them. I understand your thoughts buddy!

There is definitely beauty in functional simplicity. Sometimes owning too much crap can feel overwhelming. Then again guns are one thing where having extras that don’t get used much doesn’t bother me.

Ditto. My only deviations from this list is 410 for my snake gun— the Judge and my deer rifle—308 no reloading just ample inventory

I’ve used to load for a bunch of calibers but have cut back to mainly 38, 308, 270 win, and 9.3x74r. I still have dies and components for a bunch more but no desire to go back down the road of loading for them again.
I left out that I do load for 12 ga, 20 ga, and 410.

I bought a case of Fiocchi 40 gr Vmax 223 for varmint hunting. I stopped taking the 220 Swift out because I couldn't reload the Swift for what I paid for the Fiocchih. It's been at least 10 years, and I still have half a case of that ammo. I still have the swift for some reason. Probably need to rehome the Swift

Am I the only one who was relieved after opening the post and reading what he actually meant? swampratt CAN'T get sick! After the nuclear apocalypse, swampratt and cockroaches will be the only things left alive!

I'm like a lot of you guys. When I first started out reloading, I couldn't keep from buying all sorts of dies, equipment, and material. Every reloading book I could find, I picked up. After awhile I paired down my reloading activity to .45, .357, .380, and 20 gauge shotshell, which is what I mainly shoot now. Got rid of most of my rifles some time back, as I simply couldn't shoot them anymore.

All I reload for today is .45 Colt. Too expensive otherwise, and always was. Same with my departed 32WCFs or 44WCF or 38WCF, and my Keith load .38Spls unobtanium otherwise. But reload .45ACP hardball, M2 ball, M193, 158grJSP .357, 6.5X55, 7.62X39, .32ACP, .375 H&H etc etc, why bother? And with component prices today?
