The loose grip with pinkie underneath is spot on. This is how my grandpa taught me how to shoot 38 years ago. Later in life, I learned about the grip 'rolling' in your hand. Have never enjoyed the Bisley grip, as it pushes recoil straight back. That 'roll' mitigates recoil but is slow, but I don't shoot for time or competition just for fun and the random tree rat.

The SAA is not a "two handed" pistol by nature. Lot's of folks shoot it that way now days. Let that handshake grip suggestion take hold. I find that I have to hold lower with most SAA pistols... they tend to shoot high unless you dress the front sight to adjust impact with most factory loads.

The sight trough is kind of fine too. If you practice enough (again a file works wonders and you can adjust the width of the rear a little for windage) and learn to trust your point... these pistols shoot quickest as "point shooters" out at typical defensive distances. These pistols are best learned by "playing"... walking tin cans around, shooting golf and tennis balls, etc.

I'm a fair hand with a semi auto and even the DA revolvers, but I just am not doing well with the SAA pistols. If you saw a target with my shots from a Colt Government Model vs. Colt SAA, you wouldn't believe it was the same person shooting.

A White's trigger stop set so the trigger just starts to stack up just before it breaks helps me with a new trigger no matter how long or heavy the pull. External trigger stops like the White's are banned at most matches although I watched a National Championship Revolver Match won with gun with one on it.

I use them on lot of guns for any edge I can get at 70 with eyes slowly growing cataracts I need all the help I can get. When I add a Laser sight I get better groups with a pistol than ever did when I had steady hands and 20/15 vision. A trigger stop limiting over travel and making it less of a surprise when the pistol fires is big help too by letting me pull the trigger to the stop and squeeze while the laser is in the center of jittery circle a little bigger than the 1 ring I get 4 out 5 in the 8 ring with a S&W 649-2.
