If it is registered, I'd try to get it back to the owner before I'd destroy it, especially if it is a machine gun. There are a limited number of transferrable machine guns and I'd hate to see one destroyed.

Although Tickle is pretty astute, I think what he means is it isn't a crime until they prosecute. (It is illegal all the time)
What ever happened to good ol' finders keepers? Gotta say if I stumbled across something like that after buying a storage unit & it was in working order I'd keep it. You did pay for ALL contents in said storage unit & whatever you get is for you to know & everyone else to wonder about IMO anyway.
