Instead of buying another gun,,,
I need to go and shoot the ones I already have.

And if I am really going to be honest with myself,,,
I should sell off about a half a dozen or more handguns and a few rifles.

When I do get to the range I'm doing one of three things,,,
Shooting my CZ-457 and trying to hit something at 200 & 300 yards.

Shooting my CZ-512 Rifle and trying to hit silhouette targets at 100 & 200 yards.

Shooting my CZ-512 Carbine and trying to hit golf ball sized targets at 50 & 100 yards.

Shooting my pair of Ruger 22/45's and trying to hit coke cans at 25 yards.

Shooting my pair of Kel Tec P17's and trying to hit coke cans at 25 yards.

That leaves three .22 rifles in my cabinet that never get fired,,,
And well over a dozen more handguns that also never get fired.

Last year I didn't get to the range very much at all,,,
My excuse was that I was recuperating from prostate removal surgery.

Sitting here in the dead of winter not being able to comfortably go shooting,,,
I really regret all those days last year when I could have gone,,,
But just sat in front of my TV like a vegetable.

Not this year Dangit!

As soon as spring hits I'm going to hit the range more often,,,
Before I retired I was going 2-3 times a week,,,
Usually Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

In the meantime I need to make a decision on what fiery-arms to peddle off,,,
Exactly which rifles and pistols I'm going to want to shoot,,,
And get rid of everything else in my cabinet.

CZ discontinued their entire line of 512 model semi-auto rifles,,,
I like the heck out of them but I worry about spare parts,,,
I'll probably peddle them and go the 10/22 route.

Eventually I would like to own just these three (four) rifles.

Keep my CZ-457 Pro Varmint AT-One for long range shooting (300 yards).

Purchase a KIDD built Ultimate 10/22 for medium range (200 yards).

Purchase two bone stock 10/22's for general plinking (50 yards),,,
Two because I like to take friends to the range.

I have a buddy with almost that exact rifle set-up,,,
I've always admired his compliment of guns,,,
They cover all the bases of shooting.

All of my single action revolvers will go out the door,,,
Except for my momma's Colt Frontier Scout,,,
I think I'll be buried with that gun.

I have amassed a small but nice collection of S&W revolvers,,,
Many of them are rimfire/centerfire matching pairs,,,
They don't take up much room in my cabinet,,,
And I do enjoy the "ownership" of them,,,
So they will stay with me.

That's the problem with my handguns,,,
Even though I might not shoot them much or at all,,,
I enjoyed collecting them so much it would be hard to see them go.

My main excuse for keeping most of the handguns is,,,
They cost me absolutely nothing to hang on to,,,
But even so, there's a half dozen I could sell.

Also, some of those rimfire/centerfire pairs are bequeathed,,,
A couple of my friends will inherit very nice sets.

I'm a wishy-washy mess in this topic,,,
No one laughs at my dilemma more than I do myself.

Where they bust the sod in South Tulsa County.

Since Colt took over CZ, CZ-USA has basically gone dark; won't answer emails or nebulous responses to phone calls with canned responses.
I've gone directly to some eastern european CZ parts suppliers with good results. Keep them 512's; one could always be available to cannabalize.

There comes a time every gun nut has to downsize @aarondhgraham

I have sold everything I did not need. Getting up older and just ridding of excess. Gave everything that some close others wanted. I have 2 pistols left to sell. Then I am riding out time with what I chose we needed. Sold 3 safes that I emptied out. Most of my collected up wide variety was sold on here, which allowed me to make some great long and on going friendships and meeting great members from here. Not a single glitch with members here.

I'll keep the 512-Carbine,,,
Just because I absolutely love shooting it,,,
It's absolutely the "sexiest" little rimfire rifle ever made.

But I've almost finished talked myself into letting go of the 512-Rifle,,,
If (when) I do I'll replace it with an Ultimate 10/22 of some ilk,,,
That way there will be no shortage of available parts.

I just need to get off my dead arse,,,
Clean and lube the guns I'm letting go of,,,
And get them listed in the classifieds here at okshooters.
