Liberty Theater, Carnegie, Ok.

Home of the Show Dog, $2.50 with Secret Ingredient Chili, White Onion, Mustard, Cheese add .50 Cents.
Fresh Popcorn, real butter available, Fountain Pop's (best around He has the syrup CO2 mix tuned by Him puts in extra syrup), the Dr. Pepper's are great. $3.00 for a I think 30 oz. cup.
It will take you back to the 1960's, Ceiling tile is the old Gold Paint Metal from the days it opened in great shape.
He has HIgh School kids running the concessions and He teaches them how to work and be polite, they bust a hump waiting on you. They sell a huge amount of Show Dogs every night out the door, you do not have to attend the show to stop and get a Dog.
If you pass thru Carnegie ever in the evening from 5:30 PM to 10:00 stop and get a Dog at the least. Weekends 2:00 to 10:00 PM.
You more than likely will not be dissapointed. I have heard a few say they do not like the chili, but if you do I guarantee You will be back. I recommend to start with 3 dogs at least.

3 screens, Decent sound system, good seats, Recent releases, Adults $4.00

I sincerely hope the secret ingredient has nothing to do with soylent green. Many things can go into an industrial sausage or a hot dog.

It is a family Recipe that his Mother used. I have stalked him at the local Grocery store trying to figure out what he uses. I am sure he has been followed by many Hot Dog connoisseurs over time. As far as I know all his Hot Dog ingredients come from the local Grocer in town, Super C. I seen him carry out cases of Weiners in a Box, along with racks of buns. The weiners are the standard Pork, chicken blend from Bar S now a day. I know some of the stuff comes from commercial vendors, like 5 gallon buckets of oil, and 25 lb. sacks of Popcorn. If I remember right I think he uses a blend of Coconut oil in the popcorn Machine.

He has it down to a Science, He has made a fortune in the last 40 years or so selling Dogs, more consistent than McDonalds Products, cause He don't cut corners or use Smoke and Mirrors for marketing. Word of Mouth is it.
I seen people in there that come from Okc area to go to the show and get concessions. It is cheaper than the big shows and concessions are way better. You can take a whole Family for what it would cost for one at an OKC venue. It is a great experience for a City Kid. Us country folks kind of take it for Granite. The Liberty has been in business I think close to 100 years, ran by the same family, I think they started selling Dogs in late 60"s early 70's.
Jerry the fellow that Runs it now is Second Generation. His Mother Ran it before him and He worked for her, I don't think He has ever done anything else.

I bet He knows when He is being followed at the Grocery Store, cause those Dogs are world renowned. If he were in New York, Nathans would be the second best Dog not the number one Dog.

He cooks his Weiners in a skillet first then puts them in a Hot Dog steamer, along with the buns. He apparently knows how to keep his buns from getting soggy also. They come out warm and tender. I'm telling you they may be a perfect Traditional Chili Dog. Only condiments are Chili, Onion, and Mustard. He only added Cheese a few years ago and you have to ask for it.

Any way finding the Perfect Dog is big business, and a passion for a lot of Americans. Just look at what this thread alone has stirred up over defining a Dog.

I hope you ain't disappointed, if you get a chance to try one.

When someone says secret ingredient I assume one thing and it's not good.
Ingredients are not secret. It is the Recipe that is secret.
OLD Family.
I think they may have all been Old or something maybe.
Because once you try it, it becomes a new recipe.
Like buying a used gun and it is new to you.

I do a lot of different types of cooking. Every once in a while I go to an old "recipe" of basics and find out the original simple version really tastes better than lots of foofie-do stuff. Just for example I used to try to smoke ribs with all kinds of rubs, sauces, temperature changes, wrappings, etc. Now, I salt and pepper, throw them in the smoker at 225 and take them out about 7-8 hours later depending on how tender I want them. Sometimes do not even put BBQ sauce on them. Yep, real delicious original basic rib taste instead of tasting all the seasonings and condiments. Sometimes going back to basics is not all bad. Hot dogs wrapped in a slice of bread with a little mustard can get me by in a pinch if I have no buns. Thanks for the entertainment.
