You don't need a license to possess or carry in your own home.* What you need an SDA license for is to carry (open or concealed) OUTSIDE of your home.*

And yes; like the others, I'd also like to know who this purveyor of falsehoods is.

* or property or fixed place of business

Lets be clear on one thing: the OK carry license is only relevant for TWO legal items regarding handguns: 1. You can carry or transport it LOADED. 2. You can carry or transport it CONCEALED.
It changes NOTHING about the use of deadly force, or "stand your ground." It merely explains that you were legal carrying a loaded, concealed or unconcealed handgun off your property.

You can transport an unloaded handgun open, or in a case that is visible, all you want without a carry license.
So if you find you left your wallet at home, just unload your carry gun and drop it on the front seat while driving; can't help you if you get pulled over without the driver's license....:oops3:

Whoever the "some guy" expert is who is quoted in the OP, he is totally wrong. :screwy:

What's the actual penalties for transporting a firearm in Oklahoma? I've been pulled over and they hadn't a clue.

No penalty if it is transported legally!!!

If a firearm is transported illegally, it is primarily a misdemeanor. In the state of Oklahoma, a misdemeanor "can be" punished up to one year in jail and a $500 fine. That said, as someone that used to help maintain the criminal records for the state, I don't EVER recall anyone being punished that severely. Normally, if jail time was sentenced, it was a short time and the fines were low as well.

Transporting a loaded firearm has a lower jail time of 6 months according to Oklahoma statute 21-1289-15.

Again, that said, some municipalities have their own sentencing guidelines that are different, and sometimes harsher, than the state's guidelines.

If that's the case, it's time to take that municipality to court for violating state preemption

That would be fine, except that statutes 21-1289-13 and 21-1289-15 fall under the title of "Oklahoma Firearms Act of 1971," where the state preemption statute specifically refers to the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act. Thus, a violation of transporting a loaded firearm can be punished more by a municipality.

But, I'll agree with Glocktogo in that we need to know the name of the individual that is spreading false information.
