I don't want to throw someone under the bus without knowing exactly what he teaches. A friend of mine is attending an event this weekend hosted by the person who reportedly makes these claims. If it's true, I will identify him and his company here.

That would be fine, except that statutes 21-1289-13 and 21-1289-15 fall under the title of "Oklahoma Firearms Act of 1971," where the state preemption statute specifically refers to the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act. Thus, a violation of transporting a loaded firearm can be punished more by a municipality.

But, I'll agree with Glocktogo in that we need to know the name of the individual that is spreading false information.
Statute 21-1289-24 does mention the SDA in that municipalities can enact provisions to cite people for improper transport of a firearm per 21-1289-13A, as long as the penalty does not exceed the penalties of the SDA. At an initial glance, I found noting in the SDA that mentioned transport of a firearm, but that's another matter. The state still says that the penalty cannot exceed that of the SDA. If a municipality is fining people more than that, then IMO, they are still in violation of the preemption statute.

The OP still hasn't posted the offender's information. I proclaim this thread to be an abject failure until such time as it's posted. :(

And your comments add absolutely nothing to the discussion. One can clearly see why you have over 17,000 posts on the forum. Post hoe personified.

To others who showed interest in the subject: I will identify the person in question and his organization when I confirm that he made the statements discussed in post #1. He is making a presentation this weekend.

Sorry, I'm with GTG on this one.

How can he add to to the discussion without knowing who is making these silly claims? it's already been established that the information is bogus.

Perhaps the thread should not have been started in the first place since you're unwilling to put a name to the claim, even under the cloak of hearsay.

Even Gossipy old southern bitties eventually divulge their sources.

Your own words:

There's a guy teaching seminars (selling a service) who says if you don't have an Oklahoma Handgun License and you shoot an intruder with a handgun in your own home, you have violated Oklahoma law.

You STATED that someone who teaches is telling people this. Now you're crawfishing and saying "I don't want to throw someone under the bus without knowing exactly what he teaches." Quite a few of us took you on your word in the first post and asked you to name names. YOU put the cart before the horse here and I'm the "post hoe"? LOL...

Edit to add: I stated that the information was completely bogus on the 1st page, therefore I DID add to the discussion!

I would suggest that you help your friend educate himself by personally reading and understanding the applicable sections of Oklahoma law, i.e., the parts about being allowed to stand your ground in your home ('castle doctrine') and the SDA. So then, if and when this instructor spouts the incorrect information you're talking about, he can emphatically correct the instructor, with cited sources and sections (meaning take a copy of the law). If this "instructor" is that poorly-versed in Oklahoma law, then I have no problem with him being called out on it loud and clear and put to shame in front of the very people he is attempting to defraud.
