School policies and libturds, can't be bothered with minor inconvenience or something as trivial as the Constitution.

But, the parking lot at work is inside the security gate. Management issued a notice of NO FIREARMS ON COMPANY PROPERTY and dogs would patrol parking lot and could be searched.
We (group of 46) argued that we traveled up 60 miles, one way, to get to work and we had a right to protection. Company said we had a right to find other employment.
We talked with a lawyer, who sent a letter stating that Company accepted liability for our safety traveling to and from work until the court decided.
The notices were removed and policy states "must remain in locked vehicle".

As stated earlier, lock in vehicle, concealed is concealed.

I have 3 teachers in my family that work in public education (elementary and middle school). We got on the topic of their safety and being able to have a gun in the car, but different sources on Google were contradictory.

Is it legal for teachers to have a loaded or unloaded handgun in their locked car and unattended while it’s parked in a school parking lot?

Any definitive sources would be appreciated.
Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

"6. A handgun carried in a motor vehicle pursuant to a valid handgun license authorized by the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act onto property set aside by a public or private elementary or secondary school for the use or parking of any vehicle; provided, however, said handgun shall be stored and hidden from view in a locked motor vehicle when the motor vehicle is left unattended on school property."
I'm sure this was written prior to OK going constitutional. Besides the license is for you to carry not for storage.

I don’t know about Oklahoma, but some states specifically specify that your car is an extension of your home and so firearms cannot be banned from being in them even in private parking lots. Some states specify they can’t be brought into “structures” and so parking garages often meet that criteria versus an open paved lot.

As others have said here, though, unless you go through a manned checkpoint, I consider stuff like this civil disobedience.

The only law that I’ve seen that could support legally leaving it in the car in the school parking lot is this one and it states having the license which Oklahoma still grants licenses in order for people to have reciprocity in other states.

My fear is that if my family members did ultimately have to face their day in court that the letter of the law would win out, even though most of us common folks would interpret this provision as the constitutional carry law allowing us to legally do this.

I thought your vehicle is your private property...once the gun leaves the car it is on COMPANY PRIVATE PROPERTY and subject to company policies. Not sure if I am looking at this correctly, but your car is your property and not your companies property right?

That was our argument, which the company wanted to argue with.
Once we pushed that they were responsible for our safety while traveling, they conceded that vehicle, traveling to and from, and parked was our private property.
Our Plant Manager being a local, country boy siding with us against the libturd, corporate lawyer didn't hurt.
