Been looking for another truck, have a hairbrained idea and start thinking of what I'm wanting out of it. Decide on the necessities and not having much luck, so do some more specific research to find out the combo I want is ridiculously rare.
Perfect combination #1, they made 2 of.
One step down, they also only made 2 of.
3rd choice, they made 201 of.

I didn't set out looking for something unusual or odd (so I thought), but that's how it ended up. Now I gotta rethink the whole thing. Blah.

No, Power Wagons are gasser. They're basically 2500s with some additional offload goodies. So the alternative is a 2500 Hemi with manual trans...which is more available and will probably be just fine.
Diesel is awesome if you need one, but expensive if you don't.

Tracking down a vehicle they only made two of seems pretty unlikely and that's assuming that they are even still around anymore. If two got made 20 years ago, it would not be unheard of that at least one of them or both of them got wrecked or are clapped out or whatever. I wasn't looking for a collectible vehicle, just a utility type vehicle and this seem to be ideal until I did the research and realized how rare they were.

How could I find this info on the 1st and 2nd Gen 2500s with the diesel engines?

I got this from a Power Wagon forum. Idk about 1st and 2nd gens, but at least 3rd gens and newer you can give mother Chrysler your VIN and they'll let you know how many of your combo was made. That gets a little more ridiculous though as they generally get down to evert last option. "Only 7 with Fiesel, aluminum wheels, cigarette lighter delete and factory air freshener"

You mat be able to inquire about a bit broader combination if they have recored that go back that far.
