This is like USPSA with rifles. As close as we can get to CQB style shooting in a match format at our gun club.

The matches reward accuracy and speed, and the stages are problems to solve in the most efficient way possible. Points are scored via scoring zones on the targets, two hits each for minor, one hit for major, and the points are divided by the time it took to complete the course. This number is called hit factor and represents points per second. It is a decades old scoring system used for IPSC/USPSA, and it is the best scoring system.

Each stage, the shooter will start at a specific position with a loaded gun, safety on, muzzle at low ready. Keeps it simple, and keeps competitive equity neutral.

Most people bring AR-15s, but we have AKs, battle rifles (AR-10/FAL/G3/M1A/Garand), XCRs, and AR-22s at each match. There are six stages, and we are usually done by 2pm.

The match was super fun and very competitive, and we had a guy run a stripper-clip-fed bolt action rifle this time! It was a Mosin with a shot out barrel, perfect for short-range, bay-style shooting. We had mostly AR-15s, but some AKs, PCCs, AR-22s, and an M1 Garand came out to play. Match winner used a rimfire AR-22.

Summer is definitely here, gonna wear one of those sweat-wicking sun protection shirts next time.
