Bunny, I hear you. Polite input & discussion is always welcome.

My grip is that there are a few people on the forum who go out of their way on a regular basis to find some reason to rag on people [not just me].. they enjoy doing it, as they imagine themselves as being 'witty' about it... while there are others who in yrs on this forum have never once insulted, berated or demeaned anyone for their comments. I think that tells a lot about a person's true character. If they belonged to a church, I don't think they would want fellow members to know that they acted that way. The forum administrator claims to want to make the forum 'family friendly' and increase the number of users... does he / she really think that the majority of church going family guys & gals would ever be interested in the crude rudeness that goes on in this forum? If increased users & advertising $'s are his / her goal.. then they have a funny way of going about it.

Actually if you take into consideration the demographic this board is aimed at then I gotta tell you I'm surprised there isn't more real nastiness going on here. As far as "church going family guys" do you think just because folks go to church they don't enjoy a nice, crude joke or scantily clad woman (honestly, I'd prefer more pics of men but I'm out-numbered and I know it! LOL). And as far as crudeness you'd have to go a long way to find someone who can be more crude and/or rude than me. No honestly ... You can believe in God (and at least try to be a Godly person) and still enjoy a good, hard ribbing (taking and getting) IMHO. I'm guessing there are plenty others here who think so also.

And advertising/money?? What internet gun board wouldn't want the kind of advertising dollars that ARFCOM brings in? That place isn't exactly the bastion (did I spell that right??) of genteel civility ...

Bottom line is this is an internet gun forum. Just like the local bar (or local church social) there are different personalities here. There's an ignore feature (which I've NEVER used BTW). You don't have to read the stuff you don't want to.

I like the "telling about a person's character" line also. Do you know how many times some guy has PM'd me telling me what a whore I must be or how my parents must be so ashamed of me because some guy (always a newbie, always some guy who had never shot a match in his life) got his panties bunched up in his crack because I didn't agree with something he said in one of the other forums here?? (Now you know why I tend to stick to GD ...

Seriously (and I say this with all the genteel civility I can muster through this raging headache) ... Get a grip, man. I'm sorry you had some guy casing your place but damn ... You lived to tell about it so no harm, no foul, right! ;) Besides, if you lurked as much as you say you did, you've read Redneck/Monkeynuts posts so you'd have to be dead to not see the humor there ...

I've always thought this just came with posting on here. Occasionally I'll post something I know will elicit a few witty comments. It's just part of the fun of reading their moronic attempts at sophomoric humor.

You, elicit witty comments?!!?!? LOL ... you don't even know what "elicit" means ... :D

Quit whining Brooks

We are not in Sunday school here. We are adults. No one has been overly rude to you. You post a story that strikes many of us a key board commando story. You get ribbed and teased about it. Your reaction is to whine.

If I whined every time someone insulted me, or said something I could construe as insulting, I'd spend all day in tears. I catch more grief than most here and I love it.

Don't have such a thin skin.

David,

I don't know you from Adam, so don't think I'm picking on you here. I have no stake in either side of this debate. But what I have noticed is that you don't just post a sentence or two about the topic at hand.

You mention something, then start with "I had an experience once where..." or "One time I was armed when....." and then WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT WALL OF TEXT ....

It's not that you're unwelcome here necessarily, or that your sharing isn't constructive. It's just that when you start adding a personal anecdote after personal anecdote, well.... you start to lose credibility. People become skeptical.
