Fox 25 news has reported that Kay county court clerk has dumped records in a dumpster without being shredded.
Photos of murder victims, etc. were included.
Interview with the DA said no law was broken.
Current DA Has been voted out.
Gotta love our Kay county justice system.

Well, if it was just public record stuff (which is what Court Clerk does - keep public court records), then you gotta wonder what's the harm in not shredding them? They were available to the public free before on a walk-in basis, and they're available to the public free now, on a dive-in basis, albeit in a much less organized fashion now. Unless there were sealed court records in there...juvenile names and such.

They didn't really say. They did show a newkirk PD pull up and tell them to leave, and then leaves himself?

Kay county did all the BS thing to justifiy the new jail facility, including civilian oversite, and hired a guy that has qualifications to run it that includes criminal acts in his background. PC news exposed that, but they still hired the guy at a salary that some would consider to be good.

The last jail was built by somebody that had never buit a jail in their lives.
How in the hell does that happen??
It didn't take long for the inmates to know how they could rule the pods, and get out. There was a riot last year, where they just threw some blankets over the cameras, and went to town.

God, I love this feeling of security.

They are supposed to redact stuff like social security numbers and other things and it's been this way for some time now. I still see them all the time though even today. Different counties have their own methods, some actually try to redact them even though it's a gargantuan task, others just don't let you make copies unless they redact the stuff from the copies, while others won't let you make your own copies at all, while others just won't let you copy the military records. I've seen just about every kind of record a county courthouse can have in the trash cans towards the end of the day. From the Treasurers office, commissioners meeting minutes, you name it. When the law came down about taking military records out of public view some counties in Texas (maybe all, I don't remember) closed ALL of the records to the public while they went book to book redacting. As soon as one book was done it was put back in public access. It was extremely frustrating and there were some really pissed off people over the deal.

Bottom line is it all depends on the staffing and budgets of that particular county. It varies greatly. Go out to the courthouse in Arapaho and then go down to Atoka county. The courthouses are night and day different and so is their ability to do certain things.

They don't care! plain and simple.

Ok, bottom line.
County jails are for first time offenders in some cases, and holding pens for some that are going to the big house after court time.
Some of the defictis in the first jail have carried over into the "new" one.
The couldn't even shoot the grade right to get good drainage at the construction stage, and have had to have somebody come in to reshoot it.
??????Help me.

My Grandpa used to say " I remember a time when people used to do things right just because there hame was there reputation and without it they could'nt get a job"

I guess Oklahoma has gotten so big it doesn't matter anymore.
