Yes I think it's pretty clear that a pit, rott, shepherd, husky, or other large breeds are potentially more dangerous than beagles, poodles, terriers, and other small breeds. And let's admit what we've seen with many(not all) pit owners.

Pit Bulls proper and Huskies are not particularly large breeds. They both max out right around 60 pounds, if they're good examples of the breed. Mastiffs and Malamutes are much larger and often confused with these.

But I do agree with your general premise. The most vicious toy breed can only do so much (to an alert, grown person) compared to a 100 pound example.

I think "large" may be overgeneralizing the issue, maybe it's a combination of capabilities, strength, tenaciousness, training, etc..

lolhahaha... iPhone cut me off outside of Republic. Just meant to state that dogs aren't inaniment like guns

Agreed. I was just saying that pits are seen like evil terror, just like ar/ AK. Pitts can be extremely dangerous. More dangerous than say a golden retriever or German shepherd. AR / AK can be extremely dangerous as well, more dangerous than lets say a bolt/ lever gun. I love pittbulls its the only breed of dog that I have owned. I also love ar/ AK rifles, its the rifles I choose to own. Can my pittbull hurt someone? Hell yeah she can, but as a owner I do everything I can to make sure the dog doesn't get the opportunity to do so.

I guess I'll stir the pot in the opposite direction, as I've got concerns about the kid. I am not saying that this kid falls into this category, but haven't there been cases of people that have done despicable deeds that started out by torturing animals? An early post made a reference as to whether it was "proper" to put a 48 hour mental holdover on the teen. I guess I am of the opinion that it might be a good idea for at least a cursory mental "observation/interview."

I've lived my share of time in a small town and in the country, so I fully understand the issue of stray dogs sometimes being dangerous. However, those situations, at least in my experience, were only when the dogs in question ran in packs to do their damage to farm animals. I've seen very few situations where a single dog was a problem.

Now, when these two get together, it is an ugly sight....
