Probably because they get all their information from like-minded sources. The same crap gets repeated enough that they take it as gospel.

Fortunately conservatives don't do that, and only make decisions based on evidence and varied sources.

I'm so old I recall when liberals and conservatives could be friends and even socialize with each other. Now the mentality seems to be you must agree with me on every issue or I hate you and you probably shouldn't really even exist.
