Sweet. I'd love to run across a deal like that (and have the money ready)!

It was just the rifle and scope mounts for $420. I had everything else. Except the money. I am between jobs at the moment but HAD to have this....So I made it happen lol. Funny how that works. I have a total of $550 in everything so its still not bad

My very next step would be a good stock, if that one doesn't fit you just right. I have heard of people floating the factory stock, bedding it, and filling the hollow front part with bedding also, to stiffen it up. However, you're still stuck with a less than ideal fitting stock. Putting a good stock on my 700 made all the difference int he world on how much I enjoyed shooting it.

The scope has .1 milrad clicks with harder clicks per 1 milrad known as milestones and as MTC "more Tactile Clicks. Also has 27 Mils per turn. The little latches on top are for when you get it zeroed you lift them up and reset your dial. Like zero-stops on a Nightforce only better. Got the scope from CS Tactical. It has the Gen II XR reticle on it and it's also a FFP scope. I was going to get either a USO, SB or this Premier and I settled on this one just because I like the bigger turrets. Those are all top of the of the line scopes though. Premier Heritage just got the Marine sniper contract so they might be hard to get for awhile. The left knob is for parallax and also the inner left knob pulls out and it turns on the lighted reticle. Can't wait to get it out and shoot it.

I just asked wife if I could buy a new rifle and scope for my birthday, she said yeah. I doubt she has any idea it cost more than her car:)

I am sure you may not like that this is a 22lr posted in a thread filled with surgeons and 700s, but i think we all will agree; the best guns are the ones that were free and will stay in the family.

i got this gem from my grandpa, he is rarely lucid these days and i see him even less often... .. but i am happy he is still with us and i am proud of the two things i have been blessed to inherit form him while he is still on the earth; my last name, and this rifle.

i did some searching and it is commonly listed as a military trainer, grandma says she remembers him always having this gun, and that he used to always win countless small town target competitions with it.
i also read somewhere online that it has a special technique used to manufacture the barrel that was time, labor, and money intensive, usually reserved for high competition target rifles. i forgot what the technique was called.
when i got it, it was starting some small pits of rust on the end of the barrel, and the magazine was worn out, and it was only drilled and tapped with the filler caps for the scope mount, i found the proper matching scope mount online as a reproduction, and a new mag.
i still have everything and can put her back the way she was when i got her, dust cover, peep sights (still mounted) scope hole filler caps, and all.

enough talk, heres the gun; she reads "O.F. Mossberg & Sons, INC New Haven, conn USA 44US(b) 22 lr PAT."
